What kind of friendship do you have with your own body?
What sort of place is it like to live in you?
Is it a place you enjoy hanging out in, feel safe in, understand, and support?
Or is a place you would rather avoid.
For the majority of my life, I avoided.
I ran from what felt uncomfortable.
I didn’t seek to understand my inner experience.
I didn’t have any awareness that the choices I was making was connected to the chaos within.
But how do you even begin to shift this? To become your best friend, greatest supporter, and own safe place to live in?
Most people who seek me out have spent a long time trying to do this. They have the intellectual knowledge on what could help them, yet they don’t know how to translate this into change.
Largely because inner safety doesn’t come from knowledge.
It must be born of experience.
And this can be very hard and frightening to do alone.
As an example:
Many people don’t make the link between the food they eat, and the way they feel. It’s not that food is the only driver of mood, but it is a big one most people miss.
They may be eating what they think is healthy, but it’s actually sending their bodies off on a blood sugar rollercoaster, which like any rollercoaster, comes down fast. And this fast decline can be sensed as unsafe to the body which in turn can affect our mood, energy, and ultimately, what we are able to give to ourselves and others.
It can be almost impossible to have the bandwidth to deal with your inner world if your mind and body are not supported and well nourished.
And unless you’re a child, that is no one else’s job but your own.
This complexity of healing, growth, and change is the work I live and breathe.
You don’t have to do this alone.
You can ask me to walk beside and guide you.
