Truly seeing yourself with all your human flaws…
Is one of the hardest tasks healing asks of you.
Until we do, we are trapped by our fear. Our conditioning. Our stories. Our habits.
We live with a gnawing feeling that we how we habitually treat ourselves, others, and the world around us, isn’t the way we want it to be.
We keep repeating the same patterns not because it’s who we are, but because we haven’t remembered who we are.
We keep avoiding the mirror until we are so exhausted from this dance of avoidance that something – illness, heartbreak, loss – forces us to look.
And when we first take a glace, it’s not pretty.
It’s messy.
It’s not linear.
And it is a process that has no specific path or end date.
This often means we retreat for a bit until we find some more courage to look again.
We remain in this dance until we learn something important.
That all we have been avoiding and fearing are actually what is going to help us to heal.
We can decide to look for the teachers.
The feelings, the triggers.
The automatic reaction to what goes on around us that shows up in our body as anger, shame, fear, guilt.
That triggers our nervous system physiology to help us run or fight for our life.
Only we’re not actually running or fighting for our lives.
We’re running from ourselves. From being unmasked. From being seen as an imposter.
This is why seeing yourself – and allowing others to see you too – in all your humanness is one of the hardest tasks healing asks of you.
But it is also the only one that will take you back home.
That will ultimately set you free.
